Almenkerk Wine Estate is a true family Estate. It is also known as the wine estate offering some of the best views of the Elgin valley.
Owned by the Belgian/Dutch van Almenkerk family and run by Natalie and Joris van Almenkerk, they have a selection of wines on offer from tasting and this changed from time to time.
When we arrived, they had a fairly big party of people there, so we quietly sat at one of the outside tables overlooking the view, taking advantage of the great weather.
The wine tasting was free and my best of the five was the Lace Rose – a dry, fruity Cabernet Sauvignon rose, simply divine!The other wines we tasted were the Lace Sauvignon Blanc another Sauvignon Blanc, a Syrah and the Lace red blend.
They're easy to find, just down Viljoenshoop Road off the N2.
