I have been so late with posting stuff this month!!!!! Eek!!

The truth is, I have been totally consumed by my personal life as something totally wonderful happened to me on my birthday almost two weeks ago: I GOT ENGAGED!!!!!

So for the last 12 days I have been hovering around on cloud 9, answering a million questions about ideas and proposed plans, while looking through everyone else’s wedding albums…

After a week of this, I suggested eloping, followed by a month of travelling to my now FIANCE ;-)

But he is still keen for a proper wedding day celebration…

Well, it’s only been 12 days… so we shall see…

In the mean time, here are a couple events not to be missed:


10–12 June

Did you know? The Eiffel Tower leans slightly towards the shade on sunny days. Head to South Africa’s little corner of France to learn how to bake bread, make pizza or rustle up chocolate truffles at Cook Franschhoek, where the town’s well-known restaurants will offer a range of activities. Taste wines from top local estates and learn from award-winning chefs such as Margot Janse (of Le Quartier Français) and Neil and Tina Jewell (of Bread & Wine). 13–30 June

Did you know? For a while, a fictional town called Argleton appeared in England on Google Maps for no apparent reason. For other random tidbits, head to the Vodacom Funny Festival (Baxter Theatre). Expect a host of top local comedians, such as Shimmy Isaacs and Eugene Khosa, plus overseas acts, including hula-hoop star Kalki Henenberg, magical Miss Ro, hilarious pianist Kev Orkian and The Boy with Tape on his Face. 29 June

Did you know? Natalie Portman lost about 10kg to play a ballerina in Black Swan. See some of the world’s best dancers – from the USA, Cuba, Latvia and SA – performing excerpts from Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote and others at the International Ballet Gala (GrandWest). They will also perform in Jo’burg from 7 to 10 July at Montecasino. Tickets from R80 at Computicket.
